Encore at Providence Point
Encore offers various gatherings through the year. Sometimes it's a worship service with hymns, sermon and communion. Other times it may be a guest speaker or musician. Occasionally we enjoy just plain fun activities. Often we share a potluck dinner; other times simple appetizers or desserts. Residents share their lives around tables filled with laughter. Watch CCTV 8 for each month's specifics.

Disaster Preparedness Drill provides participants time to meet new residents
A sunny, crisp, fall morning greeted Center Village [Providence Point] residents as they participated in a disaster preparedness drill Saturday morning, October 28. The village committee chair, Jeannie Esteb, led the drill from outside Town Hall. Building 38 Captain, Marlowe Shoop and Building 39 Captain, Helen Kinstler, determined their building residents were present and/or whereabouts accounted, and reported the results to Esteb.
Residents were encouraged to remain and visit during the process. Marlowe and Donna Shoop provided hot coffee and donuts.
State and local government offices in the Northwest are stepping up education and encouraging preparedness plans mostly due to the continuing concern about the possibility of a major earthquake directly affecting our area.
Housing Forum presents ways to help meet Issaquah residents' needs
The City of Issaquah, Issaquah Senior Center and the Seattle-King County Advisory Council on Aging & Disability Services hosted the September 8 event at the Senior Center. Former Mayor, Ava Frisinger, opened the event and introduced the panel. Panel participants included John Wilson, King County Assessor, Clark Fulmer, Director, King County Low Cost Housing Repair Programs, Yichuan Zhao, Regional Manager, King County Housing Authority, Shawli Hathaway, Assistant Director Resident Services, King County Housing Authority and Klass Nijuis, Senior Planner, ARCH, a Regional Coalition for housing.
It provided the means for community members to engage on the specific topic of housing. There are numerous current programs available for low-income residents and several more being considered especially in light of the growing numbers of baby-boomers entering retirement. Senior Center staff can help supply resource materials for those interested in learning more about housing in our area.

Immerse is built on three core ideas: reading a naturally formatted Bible, reading at length, and having unmediated discussions about it together. By simply reading and then gathering once per week in “book club” style groups, you will have a place to voice your questions, talk about your concerns, and celebrate “aha!” moments together.
People across North America will begin their journey this fall through the Bible using Immerse. By offering opportunities each spring and fall, you can read through all 6 volumes—the entire Bible—in just 3 years. Come join the journey!
Immerse: The Bible Reading Experience begins its three-year journey through the Bible with the Messiah volume. Reading the entire Bible is a new challenge for most people, so we believe it’s best to begin with the most familiar part, the New Testament. This also helps reinforce that Jesus is the center of the whole biblical narrative. After that, we can delve into the five volumes that cover the First Testament, getting the crucial backstory that Jesus was born into.
